Information for Applicants to the  Duvall Cultural Commission

“The Duvall Cultural Commission builds civic identity and economic vitality through the promotion of the arts, heritage and culture for the Duvall community”

The Duvall Cultural Commission (DCC) is a seven to nine member volunteer commission. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council for a three year term. Terms may be repeated. DCC is responsible for creating and producing arts and cultural events that benefit the public, managing public art, and making Community Event Grant recommendations to the City Council. DCC officers are Chairperson and Vice-chairperson and are elected internally yearly.

Current and past DCC programs include: SummerStage, Teen SummerStage, Heritage Festival, Duvall Art & Wine Walk, Speaker Series, Winter Concerts and other indoor performances, entertainment at Duvall Days, support of Cherry Valley Elementary Arts Alive! Day, and support of Cascade Community Theater. DCC is funded by grants, the City of Duvall, sponsors, and donations. DCC is primarily self managed and relies on commissioners and other volunteer support for event production.

Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursdays from 6:30p.m.-8:30p.m. and regular attendance is required.

Anyone with a love of the arts and community are welcome to apply. The Duvall Cultural Commission specifically needs commissioners with the following interests and skills:  visual art, public art, promotion & media, graphic art, writing, working with teens and children.

Applications are open until all current positions filled. Applications will be kept on file for future reference. Non-voting committee members are also welcome for specific events and projects.
